The value of Mindfulness, as a health concept, can be seen as you become more aware of your world and are better equipped at reducing your stress level and achieving more stress relief. Mindfulness is also a very popular philosophy. It’s getting more press and I could not be more pleased. As I read an article in the Seattle Times, I am reminded just how much of our world needs great tools for stress relief to help:
1) Our military veterans returning from active duty (for stress level reduction) and
2) The group of people fighting severe chronic illnesses, such as Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
As you read the article…
From the Seattle Times, please take the time to scan the blog posts here at the Health Matters Show on mindfulness.
Now I am not a Buddhist, but the practice of mindfulness seems very appropriate to me considering the world we live in. I don’t know anyone who cannot use a dose of calm and a tool for getting better stress relief.
Wikipedia describes mindfulness as “a calm awareness of one’s body functions, feelings, content of consciousness, or consciousness itself.” Of course there is much more to this concept, but just in using the words calm and awareness, I believe you can begin to understand the concepts of mindfulness and why it could be very important to your life.
In preparing and writing this post, I went back and reviewed how many times I have blogged about the topic of mindfulness. If you didn’t catch them all, I encourage you to take a quick peek to see what you might have missed. Find them by going to the “Topics Discussed” link in the middle column of the Health Matters Show blog and click on “Mindfulness.” A page will come up with all 11 times that I’ve talked about mindfulness in some form or fashion and how it can help people with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome!
So in celebration of this awareness epiphany of mine today and how important a topic mindfulness is, I have inserted this new topic into the blog and named it appropriately, Mindfulness.
I encourage you to click on the topic and read any of the posts that may help you figure out how to cope with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. We need all of the helpful tools we can get!
And if you have any comments about your needs for stress relief and how to get help managing your stress level, please leave them here. I want to know what you have to say.
Thanks so much,
