So many people think that the subject of Fibromyalgia Pain Relief means that a person is only looking for information on or access to strong prescription drugs. Either:

1) Prescription drugs designed to directly relieve pain symptoms directly, e.g. Oxycontin,
2) Prescription drugs that can affect abnormal pain in a specific way, e.g. drugs that affect nerve-ending mechanisms or pain signals, like Neurontin, or
3) Prescription drugs that end up affecting Fibromyalgia pain, but neither scientists nor doctors know exactly how or why this occurs, e.g. Lyrica.

I suggest to you that neither 1, 2, or 3 is the best answer for your long term health and certainly not the whole story. There are no drugs to cure Fibromyalgia. But you’re on a roll, so don’t stop here. There are alternative ideas and philosophies that may better answer why you’re in so much pain, Fibromyalgia or otherwise, and help you go about resolving the pain. Read these wise words of Deepak Chopra from his great book, Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting The Soul, How to Create a New You:

‘…you can think of physical sensations as conscious messages from one part of yourself to another. The first reaction is the easiest and most common. There’s a sense of false security that comes from ignoring what our bodies have to say.’

If I may interpret, I believe what Dr. Chopra is alluding to is that when pain is a conscious body signal, you should not try to squelch it or ignore it or even think that your pain is occuring as a “physical” pain, therefore its cause must be purely physical in nature only. Thinking about your problem in such a simple manner often results in a person believing that all they need to do is pop a pain pill. Dr. Chopra advises not to do that. Don’t get lulled into that false sense of security.

Your body would not be hurting if there was not a darned good reason for it. That reason may not be simple. It’s your job to respect your pain, not simply to wish it away. Work to find out the actual cause of why you’re hurting. *You don’t want to ignore your pain either. All those who ignore life lessons are doomed to repeat them.

As human beings and creations of God, we are whole units composed of important parts that work together to make us whole: mind, body and spirit. Example: God didn’t leave off your spirit knowing that you would be okay without it. You are a spiritual creature living in a physical body! He doesn’t want you to ignore spirit because you’re too busy in life or you’re too much in pain. Quite the opposite. He wants you to return to spirit.

Too often we chronically ill people virtually ignore the other parts of us because it’s our body that is crying foul and screaming, “Notice me! Do something about me, Me, ME!!!” (The subtle, unspoken threat is, if you don’t notice and attend to my needs right now, I’ll make you pay dearly.)

Fibromyalgia pain feels threatening and scary. It feels like the enemy and you want to hide in the corner until it goes away.

Fibromyalgia Pain:

1) Is an important health issue,
2) Deserves both our respect and attention,
3) Is pointing out that something has gone wrong in the body. The cause is not limited to being solely physical in nature. Causes can also orginiate from mind and spirit sources, too.

You and I cannot nor should not expect our bodies to become totally healthy if there are other more subtle, yet equally important problems that need correcting. And if those problems causing the Fibromyalgia pain did not originate in the body unit, then they started in the mind (e.g. mental or emotional) or the spirit (e.g. spiritual). Those are the three parts of us that make us who we are and keep up balanced like a three-legged stool.

If you don’t have a copy of the book by Deepak Chopra, I recommend you get one right away. It’s truly wonderful and I’ll be talking about it here and in the Learn How to Heal Yourself course quite a bit:

*TIP: the types of problems mentioned today are created by dysfunctional, negative and health-harming energy. We all can have forms of this energy within us. I’ll have much more to say about these ideas tomorrow and Friday on the Health Matters Show. I hope that you’ll be here!

Everyday, everywhere people are learning more about Fibromyalgia, yet what do they really know about this horrible chronic illness. A man holding his back, a woman bent over in pain on the television? Both of them look so pitiful. And then there is another lady in a commercial… telling you that she took a magic pill and now her life is all better. Really?

Instead, the scene is more like the man with Fibromyalgia not being able to do his regular job, so he stays at home feeling less and less like the man he used to be. Or the woman who can no longer bend, climb stairs, reach for something or even walk well. They are in pain 24/7 and they feel robbed of the life they once had. They both long for hope that they fear may not come.

Enter prescription drugs.

Review the post on this topic that I did two days ago if you’re considering taking any of the three prescription drugs specifically prescribed currently for treatment of Fibromyalgia.

In many circles, to describe Fibromyalgia as more of an enigma than an illness is accurate, if not medically-based. That is sad. So why you ask? Because the medical world does not know ‘what’ the illness is… just that 15 million people are very sick!

I urge you to sign up on my teleseminar list and I’ll send you an email about a very special hour-long event coming up this Tuesday, October 19 at 7 pm Eastern. The teleseminar will be LIVE and it’s FREE! If you can’t make it for the live call, sign up anyway, because you can ask personal questions… the ones that you most want to know about Fibromyalgia! Know that on this special Tuesday evening, learning more about Fibromyalgia will be more than just the title of today’s Health Matters Show post!

Plus, because we make it possible for you to listen to everything on the webcast for free, both during the slated time slot -or- anytime during the next 30 days, you really cannot lose– unless you don’t take action at all and don’t register.
Are you tempted to take doctor's office sample drugs? Don't do it until you read this expose' on the Health Matters Show with Cinda Crawford.

Did you know that when you graciously accept the prescription sample drugs that you get at your doctor’s office that you could be setting yourself up for aggravation and lots of money out of pocket?

Well, it’s true.

A) Those sample drugs are available because drug reps (representatives) came by your doctor’s office. They educated him or her on the value and use of their newest, most fantastic drug. They want him to write a lot of precriptions for it, so they in turn leave sample drugs for the doctor to try out on his patients.

B) IF those samples do work for you, that’s a win for the drug reps and the drug corporation which they represent because, ordinarily when you call in, a new prescription will be written for that same drug.

BEWARE: You’re opening up pandora’s box and out pops two very troubling and potentially expensive problems:

PROBLEM #1) Getting your insurance company to agree to pay for this new drug, when there may be plenty of other choices around. Very often your health insurance company refuses to pay for this new drug at all– no reimbursement. You’re left sick, confused, dazed and not knowing which way to turn. So you go back and forth between your doctor, the pharmacist and the insurance company with multiple frustrating phone calls. You keep trying to get the drug approved and paid for by the insurance company, but often that does not happen.

PROBLEM #2) Going ahead and paying for the drug yourself, even though it’s probably at the highest cost end of the scale. Because the drug is in its infancy, count on it being expensive. Plus, it will not be classed favorably for insurance reimbursement purposes. If your insurance company refuses to pay for it, ask yourself this question: “Will you get it anyway and be stuck with the whole bill?” If the answer is yes… watch out… because the cost could be exorbitant! (Even if your insurance company finally agrees to cover the drug for reimbursement, you’ll pay the highest out-of-pocket cost and largest co-pay that your policy allows.)

Insurance companies are into saving themselves money. They meet their contractual obligations to you and then that’s it for them. Don’t be fooled by the “feel-good, I’m your best buddy” commercials. Insurance companies are simply a business like every other one out there. They keep two keen eyes on their bottom line by keeping out-going expenses as low as possible.

No red ink allowed!

Tomorrow on the Health Matters Show, I’ll give you 2 “other” good choices, instead of automatically assuming that you have only these two choices listed above. You don’t have to pay for these high priced prescription drugs -or- do without any help at all. You innocently started out on this journey when you were sick at the doctor’s office. You accepted the sample drugs he gave you. These high-priced drugs may not be your best option.

On the Health Matters Show at 3 pm EST Friday, we’ll talk about these 2 other choices. They are readily available to you. I hope to see you right back here on the website tomorrow!

Today, if you’ve had this kind of frustrating experience at your doctor’s office, take a moment to leave a comment. Sometimes what you’ve been through will help someone else.

Thanks, Cinda Crawford
