Dr. Funicello and I discuss muscle memory in the body and how it relates to 1) a type of chiropractic care called Network Spinal Analysis and b) an exercise-type process called Trauma Releasing Exercises, which is done for the purpose of removing trauma. The following is paraphrased from our talk:

…Trauma can show up after any physical, mental or emotional biochemical event. If we do not adapt well after the event is over, the body lodges the energy bound to the event as actual trauma. *Where trauma is concerned, we’re talking about the difference between safe and un-safe experiences. How our bodies react immediately and, very importantly, how they react long term is critical to whether we’re healthy or suffer with chronic illnesses.

Our discussion reached a defining moment when we began discussing our healthcare system. In its present form, our present medical environment is not good at helping us resolve the underlying reasons for our (personal) recurring health problems. All too often many of us spend our life savings looking for answers that are not within the realms of traditional medical care. They don’t exist.

That includes a lot of people suffering with Fibromyalgia and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. If you’re one of those people, you need the right answers now, you need answers you can afford and you need to find the people who can really help you make healing happen!

I enjoyed my extended interview with Dr. Mike Funicello, who is a wise medical practitioner and, I’m sure, a skilled and compassionate chiropractor. The websites and books that we discussed are listed below for your ease in locating them:

Reach Dr. Mike Funicello at the Infinite Healing Arts Center or to find out more about Network Spinal Analysis, either read the information on Dr. Funicello’s website—

Or find a professional in your area to work with at this website.

To find out more about the Trauma Releasing Exercises and the author/originator of this healing concept, Dr. David Berceli, check out his website.

To get your own copy of 12 Stages of Healing by Donald Epstein, DC, check it out here at this Amazon.com link. It will take you to a page where you can create an account or log in:

Dear Ones, I hope you act on these suggestions today while they’re on your mind. You can see from the price of this great book that you can begin to use the concepts for as little as $3.47 plus shipping. If you would like information about the alternative healing concept that I have to offer and figure out how to get rid of the trauma causing your health problems, please check it out. Either way you start your healing process, you will be leaps and bounds ahead of standing still and doing nothing. Wellness… here you come!

Thanks so much for dropping by. Please comment below, Tweet this post or send to your buds on Facebook. Let’s spread the word that there are some health practitioners who do understand us and our illnesses, have compassion and are very skilled.

Check out what your mind, body, spirit has to do with the topic "Get Healthy Again" from Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue on this health blog.

Because there’s a common belief that a human being is more of a spirit walking this earth, a spirit which is simply clothed in human flesh, we’re looking closely today at the issues of mind, body, spirit and how principles that apply to this type of thinking can help us get healthy again.

Now, believing we’re spirit is not such a far out concept, if you keep in mind that each of us is made of components of mind, body and spirit. We happen to physically live in flesh. You know how that flesh can be unforgiving when it comes to how you suffer with a chronic illness, one like Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Example: The body’s skin covering eventually sags as skin cells are not as robust and collagen and hormones are less plentiful. The body can allow infection to take hold, if the blood and immune system are not as capable of fighting off invaders. In time the body has trouble regulating itself and being functional and capable. It breaks down eventually, allowing old age to creep in and physical death to occur.

This fact partly can be attributed to the opposing nature of body vs spirit… .

The dicotomy of “body vs spirit” is never more apparent than when we witness the spirits of certain individuals, who appear to be indominable and forever youthful. Sometimes their bodies seem to be, too. How can they be the exceptions? What makes them so different?

Time for Personal Questions:

Why is this mind, body, spirit relationship so different between one person and the next?

Why can’t I be the exception and be healthy instead of sick?

Can I blame my body for my health break down?

Is my spirit lacking and not supporting me?

The answer probably is that both your body and spirit are lacking to some degree. With effort and work, you can become more of the good health exception that you admire and long to be.

It’s true that we human beings often have trouble maintaining a healthy body, mind and spirit all at the same time. We have trouble meeting our work and family commitments in life, so we ignore relaxation or spirit-filled worship. We get involved in too many volunteer activities and ignore eating right or exercising. We allow ourselves to work in stress-filled environments that tear us down on all fronts. We don’t take the necessary time out to balance our lives and health from a mind, body, spirit basis.

Instinctively, we know that staying in balance and in control are the best answers, but how do we do that when in actuality it’s so darned hard?? (I’ve talked about this type of balancing act before and revealed how hard at times it is for me. See this post, where I reveal something I did personally to help me through a tough time.)

Needs of the Spirit

I hope we can agree that a major part of our health equation is that our spirit needs to be 100% heathy, too.
Mind + Body + Spirit = One whole body.

Keeping that fact foremost in your mind will help you stay well because you’ll feel the need to keep your life in balance. This knowledge will strengthen your resolve to figure out what to do to get healthy again. Especially, when you’re not 100%. The key words here are balance, control, mind, body, spirit, resolve and get healthy again.

Where chronic illness is concerned, it’s not always obvious where health problems originate, what perpetuates them or what you can do to reverse the process and get healthy again. I encourage you to play detective and figure out what’s wrong. That includes the work of looking at all of your mind, body, spirit components.

The most useful and expedient concept to embrace is that you are one singular package made up of mind, body and spirit. You are not individual, unconnected pieces. You’re not a mind, body and spirit pie that can be easily divided into thirds and consumed willy nilly. Each piece of your self pie is a valuable component of the sum total known as you. All three parts must be healthy, functional and contributing equally to who you are. How well you maintain your mind, body, spirit health equilibrium is a direct indication of how successful and healthy you are now and will continue to be in the future.

The Ultimate Questions:

What parts of your personal health equation are not 100%? -and-

What is keeping you from being healthy again?

On the Friday afternoon Health Matters Show podcast, we will address more of these questions and answers, as we feature the second part of my interview with Dr. Mike Funicello, DC. If you didn’t catch the first interview, you can review it now by clicking on the highlighted text above.

For someone suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), a really, revealing reality check would not only include looking at what we know about symptoms, but also figuring out how to reverse the illness and how to get well.

The whole thing sounds like a whoppingly big task and it is, as evidenced by all of the back and forth controversy around issues like the XMRV retrovirus research. But hang in here just a minute, because there’s more to this.

Before you can even think of getting better, you must figure out what your body is lacking and what it needs to perform at its best again. (If your mind/body/spirit had everything it needed perfectly, you wouldn’t be ill.)

Most people suffering with CFS find such a comprehensive task too daunting to attempt. They exhibit signs of immune, endocrine, neurological abnormalities and more. They are too tired and too sick. But we’re not speaking of the specific things that are amiss. What we’re talking about looking at today are the big heading items: What’s Wrong With Me, What Can I Do About the Illness, etc. Luckily, it is not impossible at all to examine such issues and I’ll tell you why…

REALITY CHECK- FACT #1: If the human body is healthy and functioning at a 100% level, it would never get sick in the first place.

REALITY CHECK- FACT #2: God created your body with the capacity to heal itself and be healthy. (We see proof of this everyday when two people are exposed to the same bacteria or virus. One person stays well, but the other gets sick. So why does the one body heal, but the other one does not? What makes this difference? It has to be the reaction the sick person gets when exposed. His body succumbs to infection. Why does he get sick?)

YOUR PERSONAL REALITY CHECK: Okay. That makes sense if someone is already healthy, but I’m not. I am sick with chronic fatigue, meaning my body is far from functioning properly. So what parts of me must be improved to get my health back to that nebulous 100% level? And is that even possible?

REAL WORLD ANSWERS: There are always things you can do to get healthier and edge closer to that seemingly impossible 100% level. Your job is to figure out what these things are and find a way to do them.

Tomorrow’s blog post, Your Mind Body Spirit: Get Healthy Again will reveal some good answers and then Friday on the Health Matters Show podcast, Dr. Mike Funicello will help us out even more. Be sure to return here Thursday and Friday. See you then!

It’s important that you do a Fibromyalgia Reality Check, because… whose job is it to figure out what’s going on with you and to figure out the illness… if not yours?? Like the old game show, This Is Your Life we’re talking about This Is Your Health and your body. Both have been torn apart by pain, muscle aches, brain fog and countless other symptoms.

You need to get real about this and figure out what you can do about your symptoms not just endure them. Now that’s a real reality check.

If you sit around and wait on scientific researchers to tell you what’s going on in your body, you may never discover the right answers or, at the very least, you’re going to get the answers that “they” want you to hear. And, chances are, you will continue to be sick. So let’s begin with this newly-recognized job of yours.

To do this effectively, you need to…

Get serious, personal, and downright honest. You can’t be afraid to put all your cards on the table. When it comes to your health, staying where you are in a rut, stuck in the status quo with the current thinking that abounds today… is frankly getting you nowhere, but sick, sick, and more sick.

To change your reality, you must change the way you think- first and foremost.

Dr. Mike Funicello and I talked about this issue in a round about way last week, namely that you can’t be afraid of getting involved with your health, if you want to feel better. Getting well -or not getting well- is oftentimes your choice! Let me explain this line of thinking a bit more. *For even more detail, click on the blue hyperlink above. Get access to the first part of my interview with Dr. Mike Funicello.

Instead of concentrating solely on your physical deficits and needs, begin to listen to the voice within you that whispers a new awareness and hints at what is right or what is wrong for you. (Now, it must be “new” information, because the old stuff wasn’t getting you anywhere!)

Paid a little attention, that inner wisdom may expose what your current health deficits are and how your health problems are really affecting your life. Taking the time to listen to “you” and the whisperings of your heart can be a powerfully changing experience, if you let it. Those whisperings can tell you a lot about your illness and how you’re supposed to get well.

Listening to them and acting positively upon what you discover can help you navigate around this “ill health” rut you’re in. They can move you in the direction of uncovering your most powerful innate knowledge and wisdom of how to reverse Fibromyalgia and how to get well. And, dear one, when that happens, you will have already begun to change to living on the plus side of your health economy once again. Your reality check will be more awesome than any reality show on television… that’s for sure!

Hint… the wisdom and healing that you seek may or may not be a slow and gradual process, but the postive end results are worth your effort. At least you will be moving forward. If you want the process to go faster, consider getting someone to help you.

We’ll talk about this issue more Thursday in the blog post, Your Mind Body Spirit: Get Healthy Again. In the meantime on Wednesday, those of you suffering with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I invite you to give yourself a Chronic Fatigue Reality Check. Please join us.

Funicello" width="200" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-13763" />I constantly strive to get you the best information about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and this week I sought out a great guest to interview, Dr. Mike Funicello, DC. He and I talked about how to get well from Fibro and CFS. We could hardly stop talking once we began!

During the interview I wrote down a few of his words and phrases like passionate and the people you serve.

I could hear the passion in his voice and I believe that he truly feels the need to serve his patients. That led me to a conclusion: someone with that kind of attitude is a great asset to the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome communities.
