Sunday Sharing: Father’s Day

To all the fathers on Father’s Day, thanks for the time you spent with us, your children. The minutes and hours you really didn’t have or could afford to teach skills and practice with us. The balls thrown and caught for hours on end. The hard seats you sat on while waiting through classes, games, parties and recitals. The hours of standing. The miles walked when required. Thank you for rubbing our sore legs, patting the bumps and bruises and putting on all those Band-Aids.

Thanks for all your hugs and kisses. They mean so much. Thank you for encouraging us during all those times when we were down and and feeling blue. Thank you for emptying your wallets when our needs were many, but times were tough. Thank you for saying no, when it would have been easier to say yes… but not necessarily in our best interests. Thank you for helping us understand all of the complexities of life, even if we learned our lessons from your shaking heads and wagging fingers.

But most of all, thanks for being you and for being the dads that we needed in our lives. Each of us only has one dad. If we’re lucky… that’s all that we ever need.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Thanks to my Dad on Father’s Day. He’s been gone for 28 years now. I still miss him.

Plus, today I’m sending out a special Happy Father’s Day message to a new dad named Paul. May Gretchen and Ellen (twin girls) be the recipients of your greatest love and attention. You’re only at the beginning, but I feel confident that you will make a magnificient father!

With much affection, Cinda
