When experts talk about the nature of Fibromyalgia, what foods might affect you and how you might change the foods you eat, you should listen. Keep reading to gain access to such an article at WebMD, Fibromyalgia, the Diet Connection. This is important and useable stuff that you can begin to implement right away.
Okay, let’s begin by taking just a moment to talk about these Diet Recommendations. These very specific foods tend to cause tough Fibromyalgia symptoms in many people.
- Aspartame (NutraSweet). All the experts WebMD talked to agree that for a large majority of people with Fibromyalgia, foods sweetened with aspartame could exacerbate Fibromyalgia symptoms.
- Food additives including MSG (monosodium glutamine) and nitrates. Experts say such additives can intensify pain symptoms in many individuals.
- Sugar, fructose, and simple carbohydrates. “Cutting out sugary foods, particularly high fructose corn syrup, can make a difference… .” Often that quickly affects pain and discomfort symptoms.
- Caffeine — including coffee, tea, colas, and chocolate. “…the boost you get is false — and can quickly exacerbate fatigue.” I’m a firm believer that sugar and caffeine can heighten symptoms of pain. Sugar also can increase inflammation.
- Yeast and gluten. *This one is complicated. I suggest that you read what they have to say and take heed. Forewarned is forearmed when it comes to food. This is an issue that directly affects you and you can start doing something about it today!
- Dairy. Be they low fat or high fat, some experts say, dairy products — particularly, milk — have been known to drive Fibromyalgia symptoms. I also find that consumption of dairy products aggravates a) allergy-like symptoms, e.g. mucous accumulation and b) menopausal symptoms or hot flashes and hot sweats.
- Nightshade Plants: Tomatoes, chili and bell peppers, potatoes, and eggplant. These foods are a common trigger for causing Fibromyalgia symptoms. They bothered me before I got well, but now I can eat all I want of them. What a joy!
That’s all for today. Feel free to leave your comments right here. I’ll appreciate them and value what you have to say very highly.

Joy, thanks for your comment. I’m sure it will cause some people to think. I don’t doubt what you’re saying. In my part of the country, Lyme Disease is supposedly rare, even though we have a big deer population. Docs don’t like to give out the diagnosis, maybe even less than they like to give out one of Fibro. Go figure, LOL.
The thing is that much of the pain can be so similar. I’m convinced that when I was so sick I had both conditions at the same time. Some of the pain was from Fibro, but I’m pretty sure other deep-type bone pains were Lyme Disease. Thanks for your comment! Cinda
