Because there’s a common belief that a human being is more of a spirit walking this earth, a spirit which is simply clothed in human flesh, we’re looking closely today at the issues of mind, body, spirit and how principles that apply to this type of thinking can help us get healthy again.
Now, believing we’re spirit is not such a far out concept, if you keep in mind that each of us is made of components of mind, body and spirit. We happen to physically live in flesh. You know how that flesh can be unforgiving when it comes to how you suffer with a chronic illness, one like Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Example: The body’s skin covering eventually sags as skin cells are not as robust and collagen and hormones are less plentiful. The body can allow infection to take hold, if the blood and immune system are not as capable of fighting off invaders. In time the body has trouble regulating itself and being functional and capable. It breaks down eventually, allowing old age to creep in and physical death to occur.
This fact partly can be attributed to the opposing nature of body vs spirit… . [click to continue…]
With it being the holiday season and with you being stressed and tired because of not feeling well (with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), what does it mean for you to have courage? And what does courage have to do with being sick? Are we talking about being courageous in your daily health battle?
Maybe so. When you have courage to face your personal health crisis, something surfaces… something rises closer to the surface. There are the symptoms of the constant strain of being so tired (fatigued), the never-ending thus ongoing chronic pain and so much more. And certainly there’a a degree of fear and dread, if you’re being honest with yourself.
What is the difference between courage and faith– and how does it come into play here? [click to continue…]
As I ponder having an attitude of gratitude this Thanksgiving season, I’m thinking about my hometown newspaper, the Roanoke Times, that added a new comic strip this year to its lineup. It is named Mutts and is written by Patrick McDonnell. One episode this week featured a simple lady, pink sweater, hair in a bun. One of her mutts (I think a cat) is peeking out from beneath an over-stuffed, highback green chair with a doily.
What is so special about this clip is not the magnanimous scene, but the lack thereof. The etching of a simple, small verse seems to appear on her plain, white wall beside the chair:
If you’ve been sick with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for months or years, I’m sure that you’ve dreamed of what a cure might mean to your life. You’ve pictured rainbows and flowers, idyllic landscapes where you feel great and the world is grand again. Even with all of today’s economic woes, life would be better. Maybe not picturesque, but surely imagining a healthy life isn’t an impossible stretch. Today, we’re closer than ever to those rainbows, the possibilities that there are real answers on the horizon.
I suggest we take a moment out to think great and loving thoughts about all the people who devote their efforts and careers into finding and manifesting the answers that we need. That’s the kind of care we can surely appreciate. Maybe in our dreams tonight, we’ll see rainbows and even dream about what that cure will be like in our life. Of just how healthy we might be… .

As you heal, as you become a more aware person, as you become more receptive to a renewed state of health, and as you’re practicing more and more mindfulness, you will notice fantastic changes taking place in your body, mind and spirit as real healing.
This information often shows up as tiny “awareness” spurts, like bubbles floating to the surface of a pond. Or you may sense them more as giant leaps forward, truly wowing you with some new found revelation. Either progression can be exciting, but it’s important to notice and respect each one. [click to continue…]
To begin our discussion and help us figure out how to promote our healing through the practice of mindfulness, let’s cheat a little and look at the flip side of the coin first: Just how bad is it to remain unaware of what’s really going on in your body -and- be unhealthy and chronically sick?
Well, these are important issues. On the surface, this shouldn’t be impossible because your body is supposed to know how to heal itself. BUT, if it won’t (or can’t) cooperate and do this, thus enabling you to be healthy and balanced, if it can’t right itself, then something is seriously wrong with one of more parts of you!
Essentially, some major stressor is impairing your health and blocking your recovery. (You can think bacteria, virus, your insufferable boss, anyone or anything that is seriously impairing your physical safety, mental health, emotional happiness or spiritual security of who you are in this world.) The plain fact is, at this moment in time, your body can’t figure out how to be healthy.
So, how do you promote your own healing?
Is mindfulness something that you can do to help your body heal? [click to continue…]
A woman was asked by a coworker, “What is it like to be a Christian?”
The coworker replied,
It is like being a pumpkin.’ God picks you from the patch, brings you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.
This was passed on to me by another pumpkin. Now it’s your turn to pass this “fall” wish on to the other pumpkins in your patch.
I liked it enough to share it with all you, so I’m encouraging you to ‘Share This’ by clicking the link below. Send it to Digg or DeLicious or to a friend who could use a silly smile or a little seasonal fall encouragement… . Sometimes the upcoming winter season can be a bit tough for people who are already having a hard time.
From one crazy ‘lil vegetable to another!

*This is borrowed from some unknown creative person. I’d love to give him or her credit, but I don’t know who did it. Hope you enjoy.
If you’re sick and tired, I know it’s not from getting to much affection or too many hugs. It’s because you’re suffering from Fibromyalgia and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome! And you have every right to feel very outdone that you’re living in such a sick and tired state. No one wants to feel pain and fatigue. No one wants brain fog or any of the symptoms that go along with these illnesses. Right?
Okay, then proceed by taking a healthy, positive step forward. Do something about your situation, even if it’s only one small, teenie, tiny step in the right direction. Choose laughter; choose joy by watching the following hilarious, good-natured video about a very serious subject, hugs, and the giving and receiving thereof. You’ll feel it’s very positive affects on your body, mind and spirit!
Dear One, we humans have the magnificent characteristic of being able to share joy, energy, affection and plain ole’ hugs with those who inspire us to feel joy. I hope that listening to the Hug Song video brightens your day. None of us deserve to feel sick OR tired. Instead we deserve a life full of energy, joy, happiness and good health. (Question… but how do we get back good health… How???) [click to continue…]
When you’re really sick with something like Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, you want help to get well, but you may have trouble finding anything to expand your health awareness or to improve your health. Initially and long term, these illnesses provide an incredibly big challenge.
“EXPAND YOUR HEALTH AWARENESS”
Every Monday during the month of August I’ve been offering you insight and tools to help promote and expand your health awareness by taking advantage of my “free” telephone seminars, a.k.a. teleseminars. (Feel free to register for the next one in the right corner underneath the Welcome Video. Right now, there is no cost for these presentations. Each one is broadcast at a convenient time of 7 pm EDT.)
Last Monday was an especially valuable time for us all because we talked about the Immune System and your relationship to the “creation” experience as a spiritual child of God. Now what do those things have to do with you having Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and being spiritual? How are they related? You’ll see.
Check out this audio, which is a snippet of our hour-long time together!
(7 min 53 seconds)
How special! Join us before these teleseminars are over and gone. [click to continue…]
One of my Facebook friends recently sent me an awesome video about something called, “The Gratitude Dance.” As the video began, I smiled at the comical young men who encouraged me to be grateful. Now at it’s ending, I know that I am grateful and I’m making a list of the reasons why.
I’m grateful for you and the wonderful place that you hold in my life as a viewer and participant in the Health Matters Show. You mean more to me than you will ever know.
I’m grateful for my loving family who honor me with with their love and support in all the things I do.
I’m grateful for my health that God chose to restore after such a long period of being so sick with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. (Over 15 years!)
And I’m glad to be alive. I hope you enjoy this video, take time to decide what you’re grateful for and get up out of your chair to do your own version of the gratitude dance.
Who knew a silly little video could bring so many big smiles?

I know that you want better answers and better solutions to getting well from CFS or Fibro. We all do. We want good answers & we want them now, but I can’t help but suspect that some of you missed the information about last Friday’s show. Why you missed it, I couldn’t possibly know. What is important is that you don’t let the opportunity to catch it pass you by now.
Note:
Often the solutions we seek for such huge problems as being sick with Fibro or CFS come to us via the most integrous route: through genuine, valid, heart-based people. Your soul recognizes them instantly, even before your conscious mind gets a clue. Such a person is Viviane Oberhand, the person I interviewed last week.
Many people, maybe even you, don’t think about the value of meditating or centering on the inner self. That could be a mistake. You could be short-changing or stunting the progress of your getting well if you don’t practice some form of meditation. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll discuss why that’s true.
Today let’s take a second to consider the eons of history during which people wondered what the inner self had to do with the outer self. They really didn’t know! Today you can see for yourself why connecting the two on a regular basis is so important.
By doing meditation or creative visualization, you can access the wisdom that your body already has deep within it. Your body knows how to heal!
Today’s show includes an audio, creative visualization that I’ve recorded for you. Access it for free. But be sure to listen to it at a time when you can relax and pull yourself away from all responsbilities, such as driving or watching small children.
It’s never wise to do any type of meditation when you have to be alert or responsible.
Okay, let’s listen to the audio. I think you’ll really like this program. I would like to hear your response to it when you finish. Send in a comment on the blog.
Here’s something good to start your week off right.
You, like many people with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, probably are aware that having a deeper spiritual life would benefit your overall health. However, doing that is not always easy to accomplish.
I found this simple meditation from Deepak Chopra and thought it might aid you in calming down and centering yourself today. It’s quick, easy and effective. Plus, if you look around the Belief Net website, you may find many other tools to help you.
I intended to write this post telling you how my area of the country, Roanoke, Virginia, has been dry until the last few days. I hadn’t paid attention until my flowers and tomato plants began to wilt in the heat.
That was me being busy with life and not being aware of my environment.
The objective of the Health Matters Show is to provide great information about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the symptoms, treatments, and remedies, plus offer you hope of GETTING WELL.
Hint... hint... my goal is to help people who want to get well, actually get well!
You know in your heart of hearts, that what you want more than anything is to get well. You're tired of feeling sick all the time!

I wish that for you more than anything.
