It was a really good talk. Both of us knew right from the beginning that we had to do more. The concept of Intentional Resting is too good and too powerful not to pay a lot more attention to it. Many people, including me, find it to be a great <strong>health resource tool</strong>!</p>
<p>Now&#8230;Dan and I have recorded another energetic program on &#8220;how Intentional Resting can help you.&#8221; This one is almost an hour long! It&#8217;s packed full of good, free information. Hear Dan talk about how to best use the wonderful products that he has created and how other people are using Intentional Resting as a health resource tool. Each thing he has created is designed to show you another way to be healthy through such a simple, easy, and fast concept as Intentional Resting, plus how you can learn to do it for FREE! Surely this will speak to you at a deep level once you study the how, what and where with a goal of resting for your long term health goals.</p>

In today&#8217;s <strong>interview</strong> we will look at why it so often happens that a major factor can be the stress of a job, family issues or virtually everything in your life! I know when I got so sick, it was all of those things combined.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re suffering with <strong>physical stress</strong>, you need to take some time off and probably relax. </p>
<p>If you&#8217;re being bothered by <strong>mental and emotional stress</strong> and <b>anxiety</b>, you need to relax because your perceptions about this topic are housed in your mind, but often expressed in your body.</p>
<p><center><strong>If life in general is getting too much to handle,<br />
YOU REALLY NEED TO RELAX<br />
more than anything else!</strong></center></p>
<blockquote><p><strong><span style="color: #2f8c8c;">If you don&#8217;t relax and allow your system to re-balance itself, you will be headed towards worse illness symptoms of some sort. One person may suffer migraine headaches; the next, a backache. The next, Fibromyalgia or more. Think of the 3-legged stool we&#8217;ve talked about so often. Work to balance yourself in body, mind and spirit.</span></strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Now, I can hear you, &#8220;I don&#8217;t have time to relax. It&#8217;s two days before Christmas!&#8221; Well, I&#8217;m here to tell you that you can and should relax. As a matter of fact, time spent in rest and relaxation is a wonderfully positive way to make it through the holidays and start off your new year without feeling that you&#8217;re climbing out of the gutter!</p>

Today instead of thinking about some abstract &#8220;cause&#8221; of Fibromyalgia, let&#8217;s concentrate on what we do know: it’s crucial that YOU make it through the holidays (no worse for wear) and begin 2012 on as positive health note as possible. If you take this ands-off and indirect approach to your problem of &#8220;being sick with Fibromyalgia,&#8221; (or any illness), you may get further ahead faster. Listen to today&#8217;s podcast and hear Dan Howard and I talk about how to lower mental and emotional stress by using his &#8220;Intentional Resting&#8221; technique.</p>
<p>Your body wants respect, time spent &#8220;honoring&#8221; it and the necessary components that bring about your long term, good health. If you become less distracted with the stuff in life that does not matter, you have a better chance of getting this right and getting healthy again. Surely better health will follow you right into the 2012 New Year.</p>

Today&#8217;s Goal: learning how to take care of yourself in more ways than simply the physical. </p>
<p>I urge you to read about and listen to Janice, a lady who has walked through her own deep, illness valleys (including Chronic Fatigue) and went on to regain her health. Reason? To become a teacher capable of helping others in special ways.</p>

In the interview today, Janice explains both of these &#8220;self&#8221; processes and how she teaches her clients the values and techniques of self-compassion and self-blessing.  She has taken these concepts several steps further and developed what she calls &#8220;metta phrases.&#8221; She gives us examples of how to do them and then explains how they can impact your life and health in mighty ways. To be effective and cause real changes in your life (e.g. lower anxiety levels, increase your perception of trust and happiness, and reduce the symptoms bothering you, etc.), this technique of using and saying metta phrases must be practiced.<br />

He is a Fibromyalgia and CFS specialist doctor and director of the Hunter Hopkins Center in Charlotte, NC.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve interviewed him several times and known him for more than twenty years. Today I have a <strong>video</strong> for you which includes part of today&#8217;s tip #4, which I&#8217;ll sum up as, &#8220;Know what you&#8217;re using for pain, sleep and anxiety control. You need good tools that work.&#8221;</p>
<p>Without any exception that I know of, people classed as having Fibromyalgia endure problems with central nervous system dysfunctions, such as pain, insomnia, anxiety and fatigue. Watch the video and hear Dr. Lapp discuss these problems, particularly addressing <strong>Fibromyalgia pain</strong> and the drugs which he uses to control pain and sleep issues in his patients.<br />

Other products (besides the ones he talked about- Lyrica, Cymbalta, Savella and Xyrem) that are used for Fibromyalgia pain and symptom control include the ever popular Ultram, Neurontin, Xanax and Klonopin, plus plenty of muscle relaxers such as Skelaxin, Flexeril and Zanaflex. Of course, let&#8217;s not forget narcotic pain relieving drugs, pain shots, nerve blocks and pain patches. You won&#8217;t hear doctors recommending narcotic drugs because they don&#8217;t tend to work very well, but they have become an accepted part of the culture with so many, many patients living their lives in extreme pain 24/7.</p>
<p>I am happy to bring you this video with Dr. Charles Lapp telling you about the prescription drugs that he uses in his medical practice. <p>What would your words mean if you told someone that you were <b><i>getting ready to be healthy</i></b>? Surely you would mean you&#8217;re not quite healthy yet, that you&#8217;re on the shy side of that goal. </p>
<p>Now that could mean you&#8217;re only slightly un-healthy -or- that you&#8217;re truly sick, but either way your intent is evident: You&#8217;re Getting Ready to BE HEALTHY. That is noble. That is forward thinking. That is having your motivation and goals pointed in the right direction. (e.g. leaving sickness behind you!)</p>

<p>When the notion enters your head that you need to <strong>fight the flu bug</strong>, you may experience an advance set of chills or an eery feeling descending upon you. Why? Because being able to fight the flu bug is a tough subject yet we all want to know more about how to do it and do it well. However, we may not have enough confidence in our ability to accomplish that goal.</p>
<p>As the flu season rolls around this year, it&#8217;s natural to wonder how you will stay healthy and survive a viral attack without contracting some form of the flu bug&#8230; especially if you have chronic, immune system related illnesses like Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Don&#8217;t despair. My guest today, <a href="http://www.robinthomas.biz"><strong>Robin Thomas</strong></a>, is here today on the <strong>Health Matters Show</strong> again. She&#8217;s brought us great information from USANA. When you get all the data, there&#8217;s really quite a bit of good news to cheer about. <b>#1) Last year&#8217;s flu season wasn&#8217;t so bad.</b> Now granted, there were people who got sick, but not the millions and millions of people that the authorities warned us would fall ill. We were to have a pandemic, remember? Very interestingly, neither did millions of the <i>predicted</i> deaths occur either. It&#8217;s quite telling that those same authorities cannot attribute their success to the new H1N1 <strong>flu vaccine</strong> because not much of it was administered. </p>
<p>In fact, the vaccine arrived so late in the flu season that scores of people had moved past the panic and fear so overly dramatized on television, magazines and newspapers. Either complacency set in or some folks had already experienced some form of the flu and found it bearable, not life threatening. They survived! In the end, literally, scores of vaccine doses were never given to anyone.</p>
<blockquote><p><b><i><font color="2f8c8c"><font size="3">HERE&#8217;S WHAT A VACCINE ENTAILS:</font size></p>
<p>a) foreign substances being injected into your body,</p>
<p>b) your body trying to function normally when it&#8217;s in a state of confusion over what to do with these foreign substances, and</p>
<p>c) if the vaccine components do do the job they are intended to do, they instigate an unnatural cascade of immune system responses which can provoke unintended and unwanted effects in your body==> energetically, mentally, emotionally, physically, and even spiritually. Say it ain&#8217;t so! Cellular memory run amok!</font color></i></b></p></blockquote>
<p><b>#2) Because of this abnormal immune response, there&#8217;s an excellent chance that vaccines MAY PROMOTE additional immune system dysfunction, especially in people who are already suffering.</b> Think about it. If your body is under attack from some invader and gets further confused after you get a vaccine: (a) because of the influence of prescription drugs and antibiotics in your system, (b) because of your not getting enough sleep, (c) because of your eating the wrong diet, (d) because of your enduring stressful events and (e) because you&#8217;re down to your last ounce of energy and effort trying to survive, the last thing you want to do is send in a foreign cavalry of invaders whose only goal is to take over and do it their way! You might as well write off your natural immunity because it&#8217;s taken off for the hinterlands and it has no idea of how to get home.</p>
<p><b>#3) An alternative to taking the vaccine route is to do things that PROMOTE your natural health.</b> You will find lots of good references from <a href="http://www.robinthomas.biz"><strong>Robin Thomas</strong></a> here today and on her website. Be sure to visit it to get some great ideas and suggestions of what you can do to bolster your immune system. *Personally, I really like the purpose and useability of USANA&#8217;s &#8220;My Health Pack.&#8221; It&#8217;s just the crutch I need to really support my health daily. I won&#8217;t spend every minute thinking about what supplement I&#8217;m supposed to be taking next!</p>
<p>So&#8230; what&#8217;s the message here today? Make a conscious and smart decision about whether or not to get the flu vaccine. Right now this do-or-not-do situation is your hands. If you get the flu vaccine and &#8220;it&#8221; begins to do its thing (whatever that is), you automatically end up with fewer choices.</p>
<p>Remember to answer these questions <i>before</i> you get the flu vaccine: &#8220;Do I really need this flu vaccine? Can I be smart-er and take alternative steps to protect myself by boosting my immune system in other ways?&#8221; (Note: Students in my <a href="http://www.getwellhealth.com/learn"><strong>Learn How to Heal Yourself membership class</strong></a>, these are good questions to muscle test yourself for. If you&#8217;ve progressed that far and you&#8217;re getting good answers, your body will tell you the truth about what is and isn&#8217;t good for you.)</p>

<p>Sometimes we flub up and the power of forgiveness must be invoked. Such was the miscommunication between my guest for the &#8220;live&#8221; teleseminar, Dr. Fred Luskin and me. I didn&#8217;t know what happened. Between him planning to be on the show and then not showing up, it remained a mystery during our teleseminar today.</p>

<p>Forgiveness is a topic swirled with emotion, ignored when it&#8217;s not comfortable to think about it and yet so needed by so many of us when we are troubled by past emotional, physical or sexual turmoil. I encourage you to &#8220;not&#8221; ignore it and do what you can to explore this vital issue for yourself.</p>
