Can You Get Shingles, too?

Many people with a compromised immune system (sometimes people with Fibromyalgia, almost always those with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), can get other illnesses, too. A bad illness now beginning to hit the baby boom generation hard is Shingles (herpes zoster).

I don’t believe Shingles is limited to people 60 and over, but it is most prevalent within that age group.

“Because the vaccine contains a live virus though, each person should consider carefully whether to be innoculated with the vaccine or not.”

Putting even a tiny amount of a live virus into a person with an already-challenged or sub-par immune system can cause grave side effects . Make the decision as to getting the Shingles virus after consulting your doctor.

The Shingles vaccine is expensive and, according to claims like the video below, seems to cut occurrence rates by 50% and post herpetic pain by two thirds. That is no small measure, but it doesn’t guarantee that you won’t come down with Shingles even if you get the vaccine.
