life-5Anyone who knows me well hears me talk about the good bacteria your digestive tract needs in abundance. (If you don’t have the right quantity or quality of this beneficial bacteria, you can regain them by taking an excellent probiotics product. Otherwise, your digestion and immunity will suffer and that’s the short list of consequences.)

People get in trouble when the good bacteria in the intestinal tract is destroyed by:

a) A broad spectrum antibiotic, b) An abundance of prescription drugs, or c) Simply because life is filled with too much stress.

If any of those three circumstances are occurring in your life, consider replacing those good bacteria that you need in your digestive tract with a fantastically effective probiotics product like Life 5.

However, you’re applying a thimble full of good to a wheelbarrow-sized problem that’s broad in scope and sometimes tough to solve. It will only be remedied by some very specific answers. Your chances of your gut getting back into a homeostatic balance on its own without intervention are exceptionally poor. Plus, you need your digestive and immune systems to function at peak efficiency so that you can begin to feel better soon. Absolutely!’

‘Now you can fool around with eating yogurt that contains live cultures if you like. And it’s true that most brands of yogurt contain some probiotics so, all in all, that’s not a bad first step. Yogurt with live cultures will eventually help a bit.’

Your best course of action is to work aggressively on your gut deficiency with Young Living’s Life 5 Probiotics product. The design of Life-5, as a superior digestive formula, is truly unique. I’ve never found anything like it and I’ll tell you why.

Life 5 contains “sticky” strains of good bacteria…

ampligenOnce again the proposed, brand new drug to treat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Ampligen, is being delayed.

With this situation being quite a few years in the making, the underlying corporation, Hemispherx, has been forced to jump through hoop after hoop. The Food and Drug Administration, FDA, has been unrelenting. And that’s not necessarily bad since we all want every good, effective and safe new drug to make it through the system because it’s earned that status.

But this one’s been so long coming and so many people are waiting for this first-ever drug to treat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome!

Right? Agreed? But how will this work?

Now it’s my understanding that Ampligen will be recommended for some cases of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome more than others. Surely that’s a function of how the drug is designed, as all medicine’s are. I doubt that it will be aggressively used for every case of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome because many people’s symptoms manifest differently than others. Time will tell. If the new drug is released soon, Ampligen will be the only drug on the market to treat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

mercury-elementToday I’m writing to people with chronic illnesses like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but the principles here apply to everyone. You may have heard that we (as a population of people) are eating more high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) than is almost imaginable and certainly good for us. We’re even eating more HFCS than we are sugar… and that’s a lot!

If you begin to read the labels of any type of pre-packaged food product or drink, high fructose corn syrup is likely to be a main ingredient. Often it’s the first ingredient and our “health” as a people is beginning to suffer because of our high level of consumption.

*Remember that on a food label the highest quantity of all components are listed first, going in reverse order to least ingredient showing up last. Hint: If you haven’t been reading your food labels, begin doing so today. You’ll be amazed at what’s in all the processed foods that most people are consuming regularly.

Research continues about HFCS because so many lives are being affected negatively. Begin scanning the air waves and the net and you’ll find the cries of many a nutritionist and health worker/writer.

The new problem arising with high fructose corn syrup is the high degree of mercury that is now showing up in such food products and that could mean disaster for people with immune system problems, like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, other chronic illnesses, or anyone fighting to maintain a normal level of health, like children and young people.

wintergreen3Young Living Essential Oils are some of the highest grade, best quality essential oils on the market today. I don’t bother buying any other brand.

Wintergreen essential oil is one that’s I’ve used and had used on me during massage so-o-o many times. It is fantastically warming, nurturing and healing.

On these warm days and cool nights, I thought you may need a bit of warmth and comfort. Take a look at this post from Gary Young’s blog to learn a bit more about Wintergreen and exactly what is this company called Young Living.

Pss-ss-t… for those of you interested in a business opportunity through the Young Living organization, I’d appreciate you letting me know. I’ll be happy to talk to you about it.

Thanks, Cinda Crawford

Your Mysterious Nervous System

by Cinda Crawford on May 23, 2009

in General, Videos

Nervous system is certainly a health term you’ve heard by now, but what is it? How does it affect you? Your quality of life? Your health and symptoms?

Let’s take a quick look at this silly little primer that’s darned good at explaining some of the elementary terms about how the nervous system works. (And… if we do keep this critical body system working in your body, like you want to do everything else, it will support you and function properly to maintain your good health.)

Thanks, Cinda Crawford, host of the Health Matters Show and a great supporter of the Nervous System! :-) )

fibromyalgia_points-242x300If you’re going to understand Fibromyalgia to (a) determine if you or someone you know has it, and to (b) decide what your next step is in getting rid of it, you must learn the basics and then further your knowledge from there. So let’s take a close look at the most accepted symptoms.

medfr07133If you have Fibromyalgia and the nice term for your sleep pattern is dysfunctional, then you probably:

  • A. Suffer with it greatly and
    B. Don’t have a clue how to really solve the problem for good that doesn’t involve prescription drugs or a hammer and being unconsciousness.

(Note: I’m not saying that relaxation techniques, visualization, creative imagery, etc., don’t work. Not at all. It’s just that when you’re so desperately trying to get to sleep or to stay asleep, sometimes you may get too worked up and frustrated to choose one of those methods as your answer. After you’ve tossed in bed for hours or lost a week of sleep, you may not be thinking with the clearest head! The key is not to panic or jump at easy drug-related answers. Be purposeful, logical and choose an answer that resides on the plus side of your health equation.)

Still… at some point… in the middle of a night of poor to non-existent sleep… a small deep voice inside your head begins to scream at you, “I can’t take this any longer. Find some way to fix this!

For a long time, I’ve had a box on this website that encourages people to tell their story, especially stories of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. There haven’t been many who have done that, so I’m about to take down the box and make better use of the space. But recently I saw an announcement by a Florida ME/CFS non-profit that is encouraging people to do that in either written or video format. There’s even a contest involved and prizes.

Personally, I think it’s incredibly important to tell your story. Sometimes when we say these things outloud, we realize…

fibromyalgiaawarenessday2009As much work as everyone put into getting the word out about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Day (and week), the hard work is done in the trenches by brave volunteers and very tired, painful folks. (Make that pain-filled folks.)

You’ll find these same people and almost every other person who suffers with Fibro and CFS in one of three situations: (continued)

71275932Monday night, Dr. Freida Eng and I discussed many, many issues about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. One of them was the problem of brain fog.

Now anyone who has or has had either illness has a pretty good idea about brain fog. Ask someone to describe it and you might hear such expressions as:

  • my thinking is fuzzy
  • I feel stupid. I’m afraid to open my mouth
  • it feels like part of brain is dead or dying
  • CRS: Can’t remember stuff
  • like I’m walking around in a hazy cloud and can’t depend upon my brain anymore
  • like I’m trying to live my life under water
  • as if I’m trying to think through mud -or- think through a sess pool, if you really want the clear picture! Hey, that’s funny…

Celebrate Awareness Day!

by Cinda Crawford on May 12, 2009

in Fibromyalgia, Getting Well, Resources

cartoonchildrencelebratingwflag2It’s not too late to celebrate Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Awareness Day by signing up for last night’s Help Yourself – Give Back teleseminar. You can still get your hands on the entire audio recording!

And, dear one, it was great! Hear me as I interview a skilled and talented doctor who has our needs (the patient’s needs) in mind, Dr. Freida Eng. Dr. Eng told us so much good stuff that there’s no way I can repeat it all here.

The two things I will give you are:

  • The link to her website, http://www.nativemd.com. As she says, it’s a work in progress, but it’s worth going to several times. She is in the process of moving from one professional medical position to another. Plus, she’s designing a newsletter!
  • The best way to hear last night teleseminar now is to sign up for the program and you’ll get the audio link (I’m finishing my edit of the audio now). Plus, see the link that sends you a website where you can make a monetary gift to the non-profit organization of your choice for Awareness Day at: Get Well Health.

Dear one, this is good stuff!

Have a great day and thanks again,
Cinda Crawford
Host of the Health Matters Show and founder of Get Well Health, which is the corporation that put on this fantastic teleseminar and plans to bring you even more great health and healing resources!

PS- So sorry the first time this was posted today was incomplete. My goof. But I hope that you realize the potential greatness and value of Dr. Eng’s interview and proceed accordingly. It’s worth hearing and keeping in your library. You’re even welcomed to make a copy and take it to your physician.

Happy Health!

smallgirlonphoneEvery May 12th Awareness Day, people with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the people who support them wish there was something they could do to make a difference.

This year you can do that by attending the May 11th, 8 pm EST (5 pm Pacific) teleseminar event entitled, Help Yourself – Give Back. It’s sponsored by the Get Well Health Network, it’s FREE and it’s happening tonight!

Help yourself by attending. You’ll get lots of info, plus hear me interview Dr. Freida Eng “live.” She’s a past, revered member of the medical staff at Fibro & Fatigue Centers, Seattle, Washington. Along with her vast knowledge about Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, she has quite a bit of public health experience, too.

Then, Give back if you can by making a donation to a non-profit organization. Peruse the suggested ones that specifically support Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome research, patient needs and more. -or- Give as you see fit. The point is give just a bit of yourself in honor of the great needs we and our loved ones all face. (Whatever you decide, there is still no charge for attending this event.)

Find the event and signup data at: Get Well Health.
Note: there are only 150 spots for the live teleconference so go claim yours now!

80306603On the Health Matters Show today, whether you’re just beginning to say the word Fibromyalgia (pronounced Fi-bro-my-al-ja) or it’s been in your vocabulary for awhile, listen to some of the basic facts involving the illness and the things you need to know about.

I encourage you to let this information take up residence deeply inside your brain and heart. Why? Because the past is the past.

History proves that only a fool believes that ‘facts’ are set in stone.

With our world contantly changing and expanding in nature and scope, anyone who has Fibromyalgia or is involved with the illness in any way must continue to study and learn about it. What you knew yesterday may not be true today!

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be posting information and valuable, handout materials about Fibromyalgia. I’ll blog about symptoms, diet, treatment, tips and more. (You’ll see these words capitalized and listed prominently in appropriate titles, such as ‘TIPS’.)

Be sure to gather this information for yourself, plus share it with friends. If you don’t agree with some of it, feel free to “comment.” An open discussion is sometimes the very best way for an issue to progress.

(audio-16min 40 secs) Now here’s a brief glimpse, plus your important announcement…

This morning I ran across information from the CFIDS Association of America entitled, 25 Random Things About CFS. (a.k.a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome)

Since good quality information about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) can be hard to come by and because this list looks so good, I’ve made it into a .pdf document that’s easy for downloading and printing. Help yourself and enjoy!

Plus, you’ll get access to a quick synopsis and summary of the 10 most important research findings about CFS by Harvard Medical School expert Dr. Anthony Komaroff.

Keep checking with us,
Cinda Crawford
Host of the Health Matters Show and Get Well Health, where people with Fibromyalgia (FMS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) come to learn great information about the illness and how to heal.

Be sure to stay tuned for the 3 pm EST Health Matters Show podcast/ broadcast. It’s a special one :-) )
