A friend of mine passed along the following reference website, http://www.reliefinsite.com, where someone suffering in pain from Fibro, CFS or some other source can measure his or her personal pain index online.
That function seems appealing and useful. I can see how it would be help many people, including you if you suffer with any type of chronic pain.
ReliefInsite: provides online tools to assist individuals with recording various aspects of their pain including pain location, duration, characteristics, symptoms etc. (These tools)… include a Pain Diary which you may use to record information about the pain you experience, and other relevant information.
There also appears to be a facility for sharing your information and progress with a doctor, nurse, therapist, family member or friend, if you choose. That could be helpful because not all people with chronic pain (e.g. for our purposes here, Fibro or CFS patients), always have the ears and hearts of the people treating them. It’s not uncommon for them to be doubted and subjected to disbelief and ridicule. Horrors!
The “It’s All In Your Head” Syndrome!
Let’s hope no one insinuates that your chronic pain is all in your head, but if they do, such a mechanism as this might add some weight to your word alone the next time you discuss the problem. In fact, any type of personal pain diary adds a genuine quality because it’s written down or printed. That enables you to use it as a semi-proof tool, thereby helping you to talk to medical professionals, friends and family members.
Special Note: Also anything written down can (and should) be incorporated into your medical files, thus aiding you if an insurance or disability claim dispute arises!
Check this website out and let me know what you think. My first glance was a positive thumbs up!
